Empowering Families, Nurturing Futures

To promote, protect, enhance the safety, wellbeing and healthy development of children outside of and within the family structure.

About us

“We ensure that social services reach as many vulnerable children & families as possible…”

ECFW is a dynamic and leading child protection organization in eMalahleni which works hand-in-hand with the Department of Social Development to ensure that social services reach as many vulnerable children and families as possible. Our main focus is on children under the age of 18 years who are affected by social ills and need protection. Though our services are open to all racial groups, 90 percent of our beneficiaries are Black children and families.

ECFW Management

How We Effectively Manage ECFW

“There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children” Nelson Mandela

Governance

The organization is run by a dedicated group of volunteers who form the Board, ably supported by committed administrative and professional staff. The Board meets once a month to consider reports and approve spending. The AGM, to which members of the public are invited, is held before the end of each calendar year.

Child Care Facilities

The organization runs a place of temporary care and safety for children who are removed from harmful or potentially unsafe environments pending investigations and possible family reunification. Highveld House was donated by Highveld Steel & Vanadium and accommodates a maximum of 12 children some of whom are referred to us by the family members, other child protection organizations, and community members.

Accountability

Monitoring and evaluation form an integral part of any non-profit welfare organization to ensure that its services remain relevant in the dynamic field of social development in South Africa. ECFW is no exception to this rule and has got mechanisms in place to ensure accountability and to evaluate its service delivery goals at regular intervals.
